Mavis has been involved in the Sport of Darts in Australia for over 45 years.

She commenced playing in 1976 when she joined the Northern Districts Darts Club (formerly the John Bull club) to play in a lady’s team, from there she joined the committee and
became the president of the ladies’ league.

Mavis also held the position of president after the men’s and ladies league combined and held that position for 20 years.

Mavis played at Northern Districts for 38 years representing them at the state championships and all inter association competitions.

Mavis has one the Inaugural State Singles title 3 times and has been the runner up many more, she has also won the Doubles and Fours title on numerous occasions.

She also played in the Ladies darts of South Australia league and SADA for many years, being the first lady to throw 180 in the SADA league.

Mavis also played in the Barossa & Light league and Gawler league for many years.

Mavis joined the South Australian Darts council now known as DartsSA in 1980 and served as a member till just recently in 2021.

Mavis has travelled all over the state and country not only representing her club at competitions but representing at the Australian Championships as a player, Captain, Manager, and delegate for South Australia for 39 years.

She represented Australia as a player at the Australasian Championships in 1979, Mavis was also involved in the junior darts and was the girls captain for 15 years.

In 2000 Mavis was extremely proud when her services were rewarded by the Prime Minister of Australia when awarded the Australian Sports Medal, a medal instituted by the
Queen, to commemorate Australian Sporting achievement.

For her contribution and services to sport and darts Mavis has been recognised and awarded the following National, State and club awards.

  • Darts Australia Hall of Fame
  • Darts Australia Life member
  • Holder of an Australian Certificate for outstanding dedication to our sport

Mavis has since retired from darts but still keeps a keen interest of the achievements
through her daughter Sue.
